Darden Restaurants, Inc., the parent company of popular casual dining establishments including as Olive Garden, The Capital Grille, and Yard House, also owns the LongHorn Steakhouse restaurant chain in the United States.

In 1981, George McKerrow, Jr. opened the first LongHorn Steakhouse, which was then called LongHorn Steaks Restaurant & Saloon. Peachtree Street in Atlanta, Georgia was the site of the first store. A strange snowfall (dubbed SnowJam '82) struck Atlanta during the restaurant's early days, leaving many drivers delayed and bringing in a large crowd of hungry customers. The restaurant's popularity skyrocketed after the occurrence.

The Western/Texan decor of LongHorn Steakhouse complements the restaurant's selection of grilled meats, poultry, and seafood. The menu has a variety of grilled items, as well as soups, salads, burgers, and sandwiches.
