Can I sell food out of my home in Georgia

According to the provisions of Georgia's Chapter 40-7-19, home-cooked food sales are permitted. Only foods that are not potentially harmful are allowed to be produced by licensed cottage food businesses . The operators are able to make items in their own home kitchens, which they may then sell directly to customers at events for both charitable and commercial purposes, as well as through the internet sales.

It is important to take note that owners of cottage food businesses are not permitted to distribute or wholesale these items, nor are they allowed to send cottage food products over state boundaries. Cottage food items are regarded to come from an unauthorized source and so cannot be disseminated to retail stores, restaurants, or other institutions if the selling facility that produced them does not have a license to sell food.

Cottage Food Operators are required to successfully finish a food safety training course that has been approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

If you would want more information about courses that have been given accreditation, please check out the link that is located in the right-hand margin. Courses for food handlers and certified food managers are two examples of the several tiers of education that are often offered. Food Handler Training Is Acceptable for Cottage Food Operators According to Cottage Food Regulations, food handler training can be completed.
