The original version of Arkansas's cottage food law, which was enacted in 2011 (Act 72), has been revised three times since then (2017 Act 399, 2019 Act 775, and 2021 Act 306). In 2021, Arkansas repealed their cottage food law and replaced it with the Food Freedom Act. There is no cap on the amount that can be sold, and a producer is exempt from the requirement to obtain a permission from the health department. The food freedom law forbids state and municipal governments from restricting individuals who make their own food at home. This page includes a list of foods that are acceptable and those that are not. If you want to sell pickles or other acidified foods, one of the following things must be done to ensure that the final pH level is 4.6 or lower.
